Continental Pharmaceutical R&D Discussed

Health Ministers and pharmaceutical industry representatives operating in Africa met in South Africa during February 2010 to discuss the continent's prospects for research and development (R&D) and increasing access to medicines. BMI believes that encouraging local drug manufacturers to increase capacity and output is a more realistic and appropriate strategy than entering the more expensive domain of R&D.
