GSK Posts A 3% Growth In Sales
February 2010 | Industry Trend AnalysisMultinational drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has posted full-year 2009 sales growth of 16%, increasing to GBP28.37bn (US$44.51bn) from GBP24.35bn (US$38.21bn) recorded in 2008. BMI notes that a more modest growth of 3% is calculated at constant exchange rates (CER), highlighting GSK's gain from the weaker pound sterling. The drugmaker earned profits after tax of GBP5.67bn (US$8.89bn), up from GBP4.71bn (US$7.79bn) in 2008.
