Health expenditure in Hong Kong is expected to increase from HKD80.22bn (US$10.34bn) in 2009 to HKD83.19bn (US$10.69bn) in 2010 - a rise of 3.7% in local currency terms and 3.4% in US dollar terms. BMI notes that this forecast is above the 2004-2009 compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.1%, mainly due to far-reaching market reforms implemented in early 2008. Through to 2014, we are projecting a CAGR of 3.9% for healthcare spending in the Special Administrative Region.
