MHLW Approves Victoza And Equa

Two patented drugs for the treatment of diabetes - Novo Nordisk's Victoza (liraglutide) and Novartis's Equa (vildagliptin) - have been registered in Japan. Despite the current popularity of emerging markets, BMI notes that all major drugmakers still target Japan, which is world's second largest pharmaceutical market. Sales of medicines in the Asian country reached JPY9,040bn (US$95.2bn) in 2009.
