India Holds Back Measles Initiative

Concerted efforts by the World Health Organization (WHO), governments and donors have reduced the number of global measles deaths by 78% between 2000 and 2008. However, more than 400 children still die each day from the infectious disease. BMI notes that the majority of these cases are in India, which must widen its population's access to vaccination campaigns.
