Indian pharmaceutical firm Venus Remedies has secured a patent for its drug Potentox, for the treatment of hospital- and community-acquired pneumonia in South Africa. The positive development gives Venus its third patent in this strategically significant market, and is promising for the drugmaker as the World Health Organization (WHO) lists pneumonia as one of the leading causes of death in the country.
