Actavis Launches Generic Version Of Pfizer's Blockbuster Lipitor

Iceland-based generic drugs manufacturer Actavis has launched a generic version of Pfizer's drug Lipitor (atorvastatin) in Spain. BMI believes that the launch of the off-patent cholesterol drug in Spain will provide Actavis with significant revenue-earning opportunities, as Lipitor is the top selling drug in Spain, with sales of the medicine reaching EUR396mn (US$575mn) in 2008.
