Baltic Pharma Sales Show Strong Downturn
September 2009 | Industry Trend AnalysisPharmaceutical sales in the Baltic States continue to be heavily affected by the economic crisis, as six-month data for the early part of 2009 show contractions in Latvia and Lithuania, while almost stagnant growth in Estonia. According to figures released by pharmaceutical distributor Tamro, total pharmaceutical sales at pharmacy purchase prices in Estonia increased by just 0.3% year-on-year (y-o-y) at constant exchange rate in H109. During the period of February to July, sales in Lithuania contracted by 2.8% y-o-y and in Latvia by 8.0%.
