ANVISA Unveils Distance Selling Regulations

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has announced new rules (Resolution 44/09) governing distance selling of pharmaceutical products. Prior to this, health control and drug commerce in Brazilian online pharmacies was unregulated, despite a significant number of e-pharmacies present nationwide. BMI believes that the regulations should benefit patients and the pharmaceutical industry by helping to eliminate unauthorised drugs and open up legitimate and safe internet and telephone pharmacy
