EU-Andean Free Trade Agreement: Intellectual Property Rights Pose A Problem

It has emerged that Ecuador may be pulling out of the EU-Community of Andean Nation (CAN) free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations as a result of disagreements over the EU's intellectual property (IP) demands. BMI believes this may come as a blow to the EU's ambitious Association Agreement negotiations, as Bolivia, one of the four Andean Nations, has boycotted the negotiations since 2007.
