Novo Nordisk Constrained By Price Reductions

Leading global diabetes firm Novo Nordisk has reached an agreement with Bulgaria's Ministry of Health for the supply of human insulin under the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) from June 1 2009. Negotiations surrounding the procurement of the Danish firm's product had faltered on May 22 2009 as a result of the Commission for Positive List of Medicines lowering the price paid by the NHIF for the product. The accord has been reached with no increase in the price of the product and is stated as an expression of 'good will and care for the health of Bulgarian
