An Increase In Cancer Survival Rates And Oncology Research
May 2009 | Industry Trend AnalysisAccording to data released by Celsis, a social research institute, Italy has demonstrated improved cancer survival rates in recent years. BMI's Burden of Disease Database (BoDD) reveals that 1,030,043 disability-adjusted life years (DALY's) were lost to the disease during 2005. The number of DALYs lost to the non-communicable disease fell by 1% to1,020,544 during 2008, and by 2030 it is expected that there will be a further 10% drop in DALYs lost, down to 923,362. However, BMI notes that the number of DALYs lost to cancer as a percentage of all non-communicable diseases has and will remain relatively stable
