New Guidance For Developing Alzheimer's And Parkinson's Disease Treatments
September 2008 | Industry NewsThe European Medicines Agency (EMEA) has released 'substantially revised' guidelines for the development of treatments for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias[1], and Parkinson's disease[2]. The guidelines were released in 'light of recent scientific progress in the understanding of these diseases and conditions' and in response to new interest in developing early stage drugs that may prevent the emergence or decelerate the progression of the neurodegenerative diseases, and have been designed to aid drugmakers in designing appropriate clinical trials. While adhering to the guidelines is not mandatory when developing a drug, it is likely that the majority of pharmaceutical firms will follow
