Polio National Immunisation Drive Achieves 97% Coverage
November 2008 | Industry NewsNews: To maintain polio-free status, the government of Iraq has completed another national drive in delivering vaccinations to approximately 5mn children. Almost 20,000 vaccinators participated in the five-day campaign, led by the Iraqi Ministry of Health with help from the World Health Organization (WHO). Around 97% (or 4.9mn) of the 5mn targeted children were approached and vaccinated in house visits, hospitals and primary healthcare centres across the country.
