Traceability To Form Large Part Of New EC Legislation
October 2008 | Industry NewsTackling the growing problem of counterfeit drugs remains a key issue within the EU and one that needs to be addressed with an increasing urgency. A delay to the European Commission (EC)'s much anticipated pharmaceutical legislation package - originally due to be published on October 21 2008 - which was to contain new framework to be used in addressing the issue, has caused disappointment within the research-based pharmaceutical industry. While no date has been given for when the package might be released - the commission is currently working on 'technical changes' - EC Vice-President and Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry
