Suppliers Complain Of Unpaid Contracts
October 2008 | Industry NewsPharmaceutical suppliers have written a letter to Kenya's Ministry of Medical Services, demanding that it settles outstanding payments for drugs procured by the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA). KEMSA reportedly owes KES1.6bn (US$20.2mn) on pharmaceuticals procured between January and June 2008. According to The Standard, around 20 pharmaceutical companies are owed money. Under the terms of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005, drugmakers are entitled to charge interest on the outstanding amounts at the market
