ANVISA Clamps Down On COX-2 Inhibitors

Brazilian regulator ANVISA is taking a more cautious stance on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory inhibitor drugs (NSAID) of cyclooxygenase (COX-2) in the wake of a three month review of their safety. ANVISA began reassessing the class of drugs in July, and has decided to implement a blanket reclassification of COX-2 inhibitors.
