Independent Thinktank Recommends Multiple Insurer Model
September 2008 | Industry NewsIndependent thinktank Reform has recommended the introduction of an insurance-based healthcare system in the UK in order to improve healthcare levels and allow the system to compete with the best-rated system globally. The report suggests changing the National Health Service (NHS) to a National Health Protection System, guaranteeing continued access to treatment while giving patients choice over insurance providers. Under the scheme every adult would be given GBP2,000 (US$3,590) a year (derived from taxes) to invest in a health insurance
