LAFEPE To Supply Benznidazole To WHO
September 2008 | Company News AlertBrazilian state-owned drugmaker the Pharmaceutical Laboratory of Pernambuco (LAFEPE) has received approval to supply the World Health Organization (WHO) with Chagas disease drug benznidazole. The WHO's decision to licence LAFEPE follows the company's development of the world's first paediatric doses of benznidazole, eliminating the need to split adult pills. The development of the paediatric dose was supported by non-profit organisation Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi). It should be available from 2009 and will be sold at cost price by
