AOK Opens New Generics Tender
August 2008 | Industry NewsGermany's largest health insurance fund Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse (AOK) has initiated the first Europe-wide tenders for contracts to supply generic drugs, in an effort to spark a bidding war and drive down prices. The generic procurement contracts will cover 64 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), worth a reputed EUR2.3bn (US$3.4bn). The closing date for offers is October 6 2008.
