Discovery Health Reduces Costs
July 2008 | Industry NewsAccording to South Africa's Business Day, Discovery Health saved ZAR181mn (US$24mn) a year by cutting unnecessary hospital admissions. The firm saved ZAR434mn (US$57.37mn) by negotiating rates for hospital and pathology services. Reviewing the surgical devices and consumables helped the firm save ZAR90mn (US$11.89mn), while lower medicine prices allowed it to reduce costs by a further ZAR26mn (US$3.4mn) a year.
