Teva To Acquire Barr
July 2008 | Company News AlertNot to be outdone by its research-focused rivals, Israel's Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has once again demonstrated its desire to expand by acquisition, launching a US$7.46bn bid for US-based generics firm Barr Pharmaceuticals. The bid dwarfs June's flurry for industry consolidation, which included a US$4.6bn by Japan's Daiichi Sankyo for India's Ranbaxy and a (rejected) US$2.8bn bid for Czech-based Zentiva by France's Sanofi-Aventis.
