Richter Given Go-Ahead For Polpharma Acquisition

Hungary's Gedeon Richter has been given the green light from Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (OCCP) for the acquisition of Polish generics maker Polpharma. The decision, on July 4 2008, comes almost eight months after the deal was initially announced and will make Richter the leading pharmaceutical company in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The OCCP said the deal 'will not significantly limit competition, especially through the creation or strengthening of a market dominating
