Reducing State Funding For The Chronically Ill

The French government's plans to reduce reimbursement levels for pharmaceuticals used by the chronically ill have been widely condemned by members of parliament (MPs). Parti Socialiste MP Jack Lang described the plans as 'unimaginable', while Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP) MP Jérôme Chartier said that the proposals did not conform with French expectations of their national health service, and that it would be more sensible to review the classification of long-term illnesses.
