Pay-For-Approval Scandal Rumbles On

Nello Martini, director-general of the Italian medicines agency, AIFA, has been suspended from his post for two months as a result of the ongoing pay-for-approval scandal in Italy. The suspension, which comes around a month after the corruption allegations were first widely publicised in May 2008, has been described as precautionary. In the interim, Umberto Filibeck, the oldest member of AIFA, has been nominated to stand in as director-general by the Ministry of Health and
