12% Of Emergency Hospital Visits Related To Pharmaceutical Use
June 2008 | Industry NewsA study of admissions to the emergency departments of Canadian hospitals published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal provides an insight into the burden of adverse drug-related visits. The paper found that 12% of visits were due to events relating to pharmaceuticals. Within the subset, the most common cause was an adverse drug reaction (39.3%), followed by non-adherence to treatment plans (27.9%).
