Sopharma Cleared Of Wrongdoing In Olympic Doping Scandal
June 2008 | Company News AlertBulgarian drugmaker Sopharma has been absolved from responsibility for traces of a banned substance in a pharmaceutical product, which led to three Bulgarian weightlifters being stripped of medals at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. A Sofia court rejected claims by the Bulgarian Olypic Committee and Bulgarian WEighlifting Federation that Sopharma was to blame for the athletes testing positive for banned diuretic furosemide, based on domestic regulations relating to the composition of medicines.
