Mylan To Enter CEE Following Merck Generics Acquisition
June 2008 | Company News AlertUS drugmaker Mylan has exercised its option to acquire Merck KGaA's Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) generics business, expanding its European footprint and gaining access to high growth markets. Mylan had bought the German firm's generics businesses in Western Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and North America in October 2007. The most recently acquired CEE business includes operations in several key markets, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. Mylan does not have to make any further payment to Merck KGaA, after paying EUR4.9bn (US$6.6bn) on reaching the initial
