Kimia To Raise Branded Generic Drug Prices

March 2008 | Company News Alert

State-run Indonesian drugmaker Kimia Farma plans to raise some of its prices in order to stay competitive in an increasing challenging operating climate. The company projects a 10% increase for its branded generics over the next 12 months. While the hike may seem excessive to consumers, especially those on low incomes, BMI believes that it is fair because prices have been frozen since 2006. Moreover, since the cost of Kimia's cheaper unbranded generics is unaffected by the development, access to essential medicines remains unchanged.
