Bird Flu Vaccine Trials Planned

Endorsing Vietnam's budding reputation for biomedical R&D, a human trial of a vaccine for protection against avian influenza has been approved by the Ministry of Health. The study will recruit volunteers from the Military Medical Academy and will take eight months to complete. BMI welcomes the news but notes that permission from the Ministry of National Defense is still required and that there is no guarantee the vaccine will be both safe and effective.
