Hikal To Make APIs For Pfizer
January 2008 | Company News AlertConfirming the trend of Western drugmakers partnering with smaller Indian firms, US-based Pfizer has contracted Hikal to manufacture and supply active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). By outsourcing this stage of the production process, costs will be dramatically reduced for the world's largest, but currently embattled pharmaceutical company. Because Hikal is not a competitor, it is BMI's view that Pfizer selected the Bangalore-based firm over larger companies such as Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Ranbaxy, which both sell generic drugs on the US
