Industry Proposes New Marketing Code

South Africa's drugmakers have put together proposals for a new marketing code aimed at tightening the laws surrounding the advertising of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. The move comes in response to a consultation process initiated by the government. A tightening of South Africa's medical advertising laws has been on the cards for some time in order to bring them into line with international standards after many loopholes were left following the initial outlawing of rebates and incentives under the Medicines Act in
