Hikma Bids For Local Rival

In a move that would ensure its dominance of the local pharmaceutical market, Jordan's largest drugmaker Hikma has launched a JOD116mn (US$164mn) bid to acquire rival Arab Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company (AMP). The move validates BMI's earlier prediction that Hikma's strategy is set to focus more heavily on the branded generics segment in its home Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
