Farmacias Ahumada Shifts Back To Expansion Mode
July 2007 | Company News AlertAfter turning a sharp 2005 loss into a solid CLN7.05bn (US$13.3mn) profit in 2006, leading Chilean and regional pharmacy chain Farmacia Ahumada (Fasa) is shifting gears from cost-cutting to expansion, according to Sergio Purcell, the group's chief executive officer. In an interview with a Chilean newspaper, Purcell said 'we aspire to become one of the 10 largest [pharmacy chains] in the world'. Following a recent deal with local property development company Grupo Euroamérica and in increase in its shareholding in Mexican-based chain Farmacias Benavides, the company looks to play a major role in the wider consolidation of key Latin American
