Eisai Targets Cancer

One of Japan's largest drugmakers, Eisai, is to make oncology a strategic priority in the mid-term ahead of US patent expiry of its best-selling product, the Alzheimer's disease therapeutic Aricept (donepezil), in 2010. BMI endorses this approach but fears that the company has left it too late, considering how long it takes for an investigational drug to move through clinical trials.
