Emergency Medicines Plan Advanced
July 2007 | Project NewsThe Department of Health of Puerto Rico has unveiled a plan to deal with future health emergencies and ensure the availability of free essential medicines, such as antibiotics, vaccines, antivirals and other medicines. The announcement, made by Secretary of Health Rosa Pérez Perdoma, represents a long called-for step in contingency planning in the commonwealth in line with similar steps made by many US states and municipalities. It is not clear if this will drive stockpiling of essential medicines outside of stores kept by various US agencies in the event of a major health emergency, but will certainly raise questions about
