Krka Opens API Plant

June 2007 | Company News Alert

Leading Slovenian drugmaker Krka has officially opened its Sinteza 4 active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production facility. The EUR80mn (US$107mn) plant will allow the firm to manufacture most of its APIs by itself, thereby saving considerable funds, which be diverted to R&D. BMI expects the output of the factory to sell well, given the vast patient populations that the pharmaceuticals produced there address. Accordingly, we believe that Krka will reinforce its position as Slovenia's premier company and enhance its reputation a major player in the Central & Eastern European generics sphere.
