Roche Opens Biotech Base In Basel
May 2007 | Industry NewsSwiss drugmaker Roche has invested CHF400mn (US$326.21mn) in a new biopharmaceutical production facility in its home city of Basel. The plant will initially manufacture bevacizumab, the active ingredient in Roche's breakthrough anti-cancer drug Avastin. The Swiss plant represents the first tranche of a planned CHF800mn (US$1,078.9) investment in its European manufacturing operations. A second plant is set to be inaugurated Penzberg, Germany, in July 2007,and will produce breast cancer drug Herceptin
