AstraZeneca Acquires MedImmune

UK-based drugmaker AstraZeneca will enter the vaccines market in strength after agreeing a US$15.2bn fee for US-based biotech MedImmune . The deal, which will significantly boost AstraZeneca's pipeline, comes after the company decided to end development for heart disease treatment AGI-1067, its fourth major failure in the space of a year.
