Pseudoephidrine Without Prescription Banned

Saudi Arabia has announced that medicines containing pseudoephidrine will no longer be available in pharmacies without a doctors prescription. As a result, BMI has revised its forecasts for cough & cold drug sales in Saudi Arabia. Whereas previously, we expected this segment to reach US$36.8mn by 2011, we now envisage that it will only be worth US$32.2mn. The market share for cough & cold drugs should also fall to 21% from 24%, tempered by the fact that there are many effective alternatives to pseudoehpidrine still available
