Roche Snaps Up US Firms
April 2007 | FDI AlertSwiss drugmaker Roche has made its second purchase this month with a US$600mn deal for US diagnostics firm BioVeris . At the beginning of April, Roche acquired US-based biotechnology firm Therapeutic Human Polyclonals (THP), which specialises in antibody research. Two deals in such a short space of time is somewhat unusual for Roche, which favours organic growth over a strategy of acquisitions, yet is symptomatic or an aggressive environment of consolidation that is currently prevailing in the global drug industry.
