Schering-Plough Acquires Organon
March 2007 | FDI AlertUS drugmaker Schering-Plough has acquired Organon , the pharmaceuticals division of Dutch industrial conglomerate Akzo Nobel in a deal worth EUR11bn (US$14.5bn). The move has come as somewhat of a surprise, with the deal being announced on the same day that a planned initial public offering (IPO) for Organon was due to take place, with the aim of divesting a 30% stake.
