February 2007 | Legal NewsThe Philippines has made it easier for generic drugs to enter the marketplace thereby reducing the amount of time a branded drug has exclusivity, much to the annoyance of research-based pharmaceutical companies. While the development will negatively impact the multinationals in the short-term, BMI believes that the improved intellectual property environment will protect the long-standing interests of foreign firms.
