EU Agrees New Deal Over Drug Tariffs

The European Union has ratified an international agreement that will remove customs duties on all pharmaceuticals imported from the US and Switzerland. The new law updates legislation from 1994, that imposed zero tariffs on most pharmaceuticals but did not include more recent products. As a result of the new regime, some 1,290 medicines will be added to the 7,320 that are already benefiting from the tariff free structures.
