GSK Takes On Merck & Co Over Gardasil
January 2007 | Company Finance AlertUK-based drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is planning to conduct a head-to-head trial that will pit its cervical cancer vaccine Cervarix against Merck & Co 's Gardasil, in what BMI believes is a particularly bold and somewhat risky move. Multinational drugmakers generally avoid direct product confrontations such as these, as it is damaging to the industry as a whole and could spark rival moves against their drugs.
