Mandatory Health Insurance To Be Introduced
January 2007 | Industry NewsGermany is set to introduce mandatory health insurance as part of a package of wide-ranging health reforms. Health Minister Ulla Schmidt has announced the new plans as part of a compromise between the conservatives and their coalition partners the Social Democrats (SPD), of which she is a member. With Germany's rapidly ageing society increasingly taking early retirement, and large numbers of unemployed, the health system is in drastic need of an overhaul.
