Novartis Challenges India's Patent Laws

In a highly controversial move, Swiss multinational Novartis is seeking to overturn India's intellectual property laws after the local patent office decided to decline the patent for Gleevec (imatinib), Novartis' groundbreaking cancer treatment. It is BMI's view that whatever outcome of this development, it will have a major impact on the global pharmaceutical industry.
