Hovid Heads To India
January 2007 | FDI AlertMalaysian pharmaceutical company Hovid intends to establish a manufacturing facility for generic drugs in India. The firm is in final discussion with the Indian government to obtain approval for the plant and construction is expected to begin later this year. Separately, Hovid has signed a distribution agreement with William & Friends Pharmaceuticals (Thailand) covering 30 products. It hopes to realise annual sales of MYR7mn (US$2mn) in Thailand. Hovid is expanding its international presence because it fears the impending Malaysia-US free trade agreement (FTA) will negatively affect the domestic business environment.
