December 2006 | Industry NewsThe ASEAN region has great potential as an export market, according to India's Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil), and BMI agrees that the region's growing health awareness and need for low cost pharmaceuticals should translate into strong demand for Indian-made generics. India is the fourth-largest producer of pharmaceuticals in the world, accounting for almost 10% of global drug production by volume and exports stood at US$3.98bn in 2005.
