Health Research Body Formed
December 2006 | Project NewsAn organisation has been formed to oversee the operations of the UK's two largest public health research organisations in an effort to bolster the country's reputation as a leader in drug development. The Office for Strategic Coordination of Health Research (OSCHR) - pronounced Oscar - will supervise the activities of the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the National Institute for Health Research, established to run research in the National Health Service (NHS), and control a budget of over GBP1bn (US$1.9bn).
